The alarms went off at 6:30 sharp on Thursday morning. Last minute packing and cleaning up our houses was a must before heading to the bus. Many of us began unloading the fridge in order to eat up what was left of the breakfast foods, while others lined up to get coffee. After packing up our bags and double checking our rooms, we said goodbye to 8484 Oasis Key Cove & 8512 La Isla Drive.
The bus ride home started off relatively quiet. The exhaustion had just set in and many of the girls watched the back of our eyelids while others watched ‘The Hangover’. A couple of games were also played on the bus including, “5 seconds” and “Cards of Humanity”. Our first stop was a necessary bathroom break at a gas station off of the interstate. (girls bought Florida T-Shirts here; however, we were in Georgia…) But anyway, our second stop was Chick-Fil-A for lunch in Savannah Georgia.
Post lunch always puts a little lead in the pencil while a unanimous vote decided that Pitch Perfect 2 was the next movie of choice. Many of the girls however did not make it through the movie because nap time had struck again.
In the final stretch with about an hour in a half to go, we turned up the speaker and started a sing along. This was the final push in order to make it the rest of the way home.
From here, we made it all the way back to Raleigh an were pulling in at 7:00 p.m. on the dot. The unloading process meant taking off all of our overnight bags, bat bags, equipment, left over snacks from the house, and pillows & blankets. Once finally getting back to our rooms and apartments, many of us slept like babies.
Travel Day 2 of Spring Break 2016 was in the books and practice tomorrow is at 10:00 sharp.
