The routine wasn’t to much different for day 3 in Florida. The day started a little later than the others due to game times of 3 and 5 p.m. Breakfast wasn’t truly eaten until 10:00, but no worries it hit the spot as usual. Downtime at our houses included lounging around, good conversation, and tossing a couple teammates in the pool so they could start their day refreshed.
The bus pulled up around 12:45 p.m. where we loaded up and were off to the fields. After warming up for our first game against Muhlenberg, we were left waiting on the game before us to finish. After it finished we all noticed commotion on the field; It didn’t take long for us to realize that a girl on another team was being proposed to. You don’t see many girls get proposed to on a softball field but today was an exception. Not sure how i’d feel if that was where my proposal took place, but it was still a charming moment to say the least.
After regrouping we took on game one. Scoring four runs right away in the first, led this game to be full of hits and runs. This was the game that felt like it would never end. Finally at 5:45 this game ended and we picked up our first win of the day with a score of 12-4.
Game two started at 6:15 against Wesley College from Dover Delaware. This one unlike the first, went by very quickly and with key runs scored in the third, we came out with another win 3-1. The day wrapped up at the field at 8:00 p.m. and you could tell how exhausted we all were by the lack of noise on the bus ride back to our houses. For dinner our Assistant Coach Adam Renzi cooked his famous lasagna for the girls. We spent some time together until we all called it a night knowing a long long bus ride awaits us tomorrow in order for us to head back to the 919.
